Parking Information for Family Weekend

General Parking

Accessible Parking

  • Individuals plan to park in the accessible parking spaces will need a handicap placard.
  • You can park in lots that have a Parking Pay Station. Get more information on Parking Pay Stations
  • We’ll have parking at the Visitors Parking Lot. There is a $5 fee to use the visitor pay lot during normal university business hours (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). If parents and family members choose to park in the visitor pay lot before 7 p.m. on Friday and want to visit other campus areas, let the parking attendant know and the attendant can offer you a pass at no additional fee—this will allow you to park in any lots for the rest of the day. 

Residence Hall Parking

Please note that if you are visiting your student in Stevenson/Grant/New Hall, you can typically park in orange lots P, O or W, after 4 p.m. Friday and throughout the weekend for no cost. Some lots may have a parking fee on football game days, so plan ahead when parking on the West side of campus on these days.

Friday, September 8

Check-In
  • Parking is available in the visitor pay lot at 201 Carroll Ave.

You can park in Lot 12 after 5 p.m.

Saturday, September 9

Family Weekend Tailgating and Football
  • Parking is available for $15 in lot C2 (closest to The Yard)  
  • You can also park in Lots 38 and 20 for free visit go.niu.edu/parkingmap.

Tour of Montgomery Greenhouse

You can park in Lot 12.

Tour and service project of Communiversity Gardens

You can park near Anderson Hall in parking lot 2, E or B after 5 p.m.

Sunday, September 10

Family Breakfast

Parking is available in the Visitors Parking Lot at 201 Carroll Ave. or in the parking deck for free.

Tour of Montgomery Greenhouse

You can park in Lot 12.
