Why should I take a University Experience course?

University Experience (UNIV 101 and UNIV 201) provides you with an invaluable introduction to college. These elective, one-credit, 16-week classes are designed to help you adjust to NIU.

In addition to developing skills necessary to succeed in college — and beyond — you’ll:

• Practice learning strategies through collaborative activities and meet other new Huskies.
• Network with NIU employees and understand where to seek resources for your success.
• Learn how to use such essential online tools as MyNIU, Blackboard and student email.
• Get tips for a head start on upper-level writing, communication and critical thinking.
